  • Eyelid pain and swelling.
  • Direct eye trauma/sports injuries.
  • Chemical injuries.
  • Corneal and conjunctival foreign body.
  • Vitreous floaters.
  • Iritis/eye inflammation.
  • Adverse reactions to contact lenses.
  • Corneal ulcer.
  • Severe dry eye and allergies.

There are certain ocular signs and symptoms that warrant an immediate evaluation, as your eyesight may be in jeopardy. Some of these include:

  • Sudden vision loss.
  • Pain in or around the eye.
  • Discharge, crusting, or excessive tearing.
  • Severe eye redness.
  • Halos around lights.
  • Flashes or new floaters.
  • Double vision.

While waiting for professional medical assistance, there are some things that you should not do. For best possible outcomes, please DO NOT:

  • Press on or rub the injured eye.
  • Use cotton swabs or tweezers on the eye.
  • Try to remove a foreign body from the eye, whether it is resting on the eye or is embedded into the eye.
