What Is Valeda?

Valeda is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive light therapy system developed by LumiThera. It uses photobiomodulation, the application of specific wavelengths of light, to stimulate cellular repair and improve the health of the retinal tissue affected by dry macular degeneration. About the Valeda Procedure

The Valeda treatment is performed entirely in our office and takes only a few minutes per session. Here is what you can expect:

1. You will be comfortably seated at the Valeda device
2. The system delivers carefully calibrated wavelengths of light to the macula through the pupil, no dilation required in most cases
3. Each session lasts approximately 4 to 9 minutes
4. A full course of treatment typically consists of 9 sessions over 3 to 5 weeks

The procedure is completely painless. Most patients simply experience a mild, warm light sensation during treatment. There is no need for a driver, and you can return to normal activities immediately after each session.

Results and Recovery

One of the most compelling aspects of Valeda is that it requires no recovery time. You can go about your day normally after each session.

In clinical studies, patients treated with Valeda demonstrated measurable improvements in visual acuity and contrast sensitivity compared to untreated patients.
